Dr Sam's Flawless Cleanser | Review
Today I’d like to review a cleanser I tried, used and loved in 2018. You may already be familiar with Dr. Sam Bunting, a London-based dermatologist who I first saw on Caroline Hirons’ channel a few years ago. She then opened her own YouTube Channel with tips and in 2018 launched her first product line, which now includes a cleanser and moisturiser for all skin types.
This gel cleanser, the texture of which you can see in the pictures below, comes in a 200 ml bottle with a pump. The instruction Dr Sam gives is to use it morning and night on slightly damp skin, massage it and then rinse either with just water or with a damp flannel.
My experience with it
I have been using this cleanser everyday for 2 months: in the morning and at night, after having removed my make-up with micellar water (but mind you, I don’t wear make-up every single day).
My tip is to damp your skin only a little, with your fingertips, so that the gel can slide on your skin better than on dry skin. If your skin is too damp, however, the gel sort of melts down and you may feel like you need to add more of it. A pump is more than enough both for AM/PM.
I massage it on my face for a minute or so. This cleanser is fragrance free, which is great for people with sensitive skin, and after this I either rinse it off with a few splashes of lukewarm water, or use a damp flannel. Skin is left soft, clean and not irritated at all.
Who’s this cleanser for?
Everyone. It’s the perfect product for anyone who is overwhelmed by the number of cleansers out there, for anyone who is ready to spend a bit more, but not too much (it’s £16 for 200 ml of product), or whoever has problematic skin and needs delicate, fragrance-free skincare.
For me, the only downside is the packaging. The pump is very practical until you get to the bottom of the product, and because it’s quite dense (as you can see from the picture) the pump can’t suck it up, and you’re left with a good amount of product which you can’t reach. What I’m doing now is scooping it out with my fingers and using the pump itself as a spatula, but it definitely is something that is annoying me a bit.
Where can you buy it?
At the moment you can only get it on Dr Sam’s website, for £16 plus shipping costs (or get free delivery for any purchase over £50). She’s also just launched a £25 moisturiser, which I’d love to try in the future. I will 100% repurchase the Flawless Cleanser and I am looking forward to any new product she will launch this year.
