Jordan Samuel Skin Hydrate serum review
I haven’t posted in a long time, but here I am with a review of a product I ran out of last year. It’s Jordan Samuel Skin’s Hydrate serum. Had I had done a post on my holy grail products of 2017, this would definitely have ranked first on the list and I’ll explain to you why.
What is it?
A gel-like hydrating serum for all kinds of skin that, in JS’s own words “will bathe your thirsty cells in humectants and soothing botanicals” and make your skin look “healthy and dewy all day long”. The product retails at $29 for 30 ml and is only available at JSS’s website (here)
How I used it
Morning and night after having cleansed my skin and before any other treatment. Always followed by either a moisturizer or a face oil at night, or a moisturizer and SPF during the day (mostly in Summer). This is absolutely an everyday product, rather than a special-occasion treatment.
What does hyaluronic acid do?
Don’t be scared by the word acid, in fact this magic ingredient works for every kind of skin to retain moisture, allowing it to look bright and supple. It increases the water content of our skin: just imagine that one gram of this can retain up to 6 litres of water. In particular, this product contains hyaluronic acid (see the list of ingredients), but similar products can contain sodium hyaluronate, which derives from the former. Both give very similar results. It also has some anti-aging effects, as making your skin suppler helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Did I like it?
Absolutely! Some people complained that this product leaves a tacky feeling on the skin. I can confirm that once this gel dries, if you touch your skin it does feel a bit sticky, but that’s just because you need to layer it with a moisturizer to ‘seal’ it. As Caroline Hirons always says: your moisturiser is like the coat, you don’t go out without it. It’s a great product that everyone can benefit from, whether you have oily or dry skin. It’s also very gentle, easy to use and lasts a very long time.
