My favourite Caudalie products
Hello my dear beauty-addict,
If you are reading this blog, I'm pretty sure you must have heard of Caudalie. This French skincare brand was founded by Mathilde Thomas, who found that the amazing properties of grapes could be harnessed in skincare and body products. I think Caudalie's balance between price and quality is great and that's why is one of my favourite skincare brands.
Beware that the prices may vary from country to country. I'm quite sure that the prices I get in Italy are the same as those in France, that is to say, the cheapest. But having had a look at some websites that sell them I reckon that they can be a little more expensive if you live in the UK or outside Europe.
Anyway, after having tried many of the products over the last few years, I thought I would share with you which ones I think are worth a try.
I’ll start with my favourites:
Eaux Fraiche Thé des Vignes
I'm on my second bottle of this lovely fresh water. Perfect for the summer time as it is extremely light, it is not a perfume so the fragrance won’t stay on your skin for too long. Nevertheless, I had many people asking me what fragrance I was using and I think is one of those scents that nobody can dislike. It’s very delicate. Here is how the website describes it (cause I can't describe a fragrance, sorry I'm no Emily Dickinson): this fragrance "combines subtle notes of honeyed ginger liqueur, neroli, orange blossom, white musk and jasmine in calming & sensual fragrance". If you get the chance, try it.
Price for 50 ml: £ 26, 24 €
My second favourite. This is a great toner that effectively hydrates my skin. I swear, unlike many other spritz waters I have tried (including thermal water), it really makes a difference to my skin. It feels softer and more hydrated afterwards. I always use it after I have cleansed my skin or after my acid toning step (I will speak more about this on the blog soon...).
Price for 200 ml: £ 10, 12 €
I bought this moisturizer with no real plan in mind. I usually do some research before actually buying anything for my skin, but this one came after a walk in the city centre when I was desperate to get a new moisturizer, after I ran out of the amazing Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream. I went to the closest mall and headed to the Caudalie counter where a sales assistant recommended this to me. I trusted her, more because I had no other options and I just wanted a not-too-expensive, but good quality, cream. I haven't regretted it, she was very kind and gave me some samples of the heavier version of this, the Moisture Recovery Cream. I liked both. At that time, I had very dehydrated skin so I found the second to be more nourishing. But after I ran out of the samples and had to use the first one, the sorbet, I realized that this was very good too, not greasy at all, with a lovely scent and hydrating enough for my skin. I would recommend this to anyone, included people with oily skin, as I think you get the right amount of hydration with this and it sinks fast into the skin. The texture is a bit weird, lumpy I dare say, but it works and leave my skin soft and perfect to wear make-up.
Price for 40 ml: £ 23, 23,5 €
I tried this at least three years ago so my memories are a bit faded. The only thing I can say is that is has the same effect as the grape water I mentioned before, but it's much more expensive. It has different ingredients and the glass bottle looks very luxurious, but I do not think it is worth all that money. I'd rather invest it in other things like serums/cleansers/acid toners.
Price for 30 ml: £ 11.50, 12 €
I am not a fan of this. It is a good scrub but too delicate for my skin. It’s the kind of exfoliator that melts immediately after you use it on damp skin. It does its job, but I like something a bit coarser on my body, I could say I want to feel a bit of pain! Wonderful smell, just a bit expensive for my tastes and not as effective as I expect from a scrub.
Price for 150 gr: £ 21.50, 25,20 €
Cheaper dupe: Soap and Glory Sugar Crush
Nourishing Body Lotion
I ended up buying this because there was a good deal at my local pharmacy. I can't remember the exact price, around 19 € if I'm not mistaken. I couldn't smell it, but I trusted Caudalie enough. Unfortunately, when I opened it I was hugely disappointed by its smell and even thought that mine might have been a dud. It does its job, however. It takes a bit of time to penetrate into the skin and leaves it wonderfully hydrated, I just don't particularly like the smell.
Price for 250 ml: £ 20, 18,80 €
I tried many other samples from this brand: I really liked the Divine Oil, a wonderful dry oil which works perfectly as an after-shower moisturizer in summer, and the Thé des Vignes body shower, a nicely-scented creamy shower gel.
I also want to mention that I have tried the Foaming Cleanser from the Caudalie range but it was too long ago to be able to say anything about it.
What else can I say? It’s a shame this brand is more expensive in other countries than mine. I recommend you give it a try and I personally will be trying other products from them in the future.
Also I would love to read the book Mathilde Thomas published, The French Beauty Solution, on her story and how she got to found Caudalie.
Hope this was helpful
Have a nice day!
